When is it time for new radiators?
Radiators typically last 15–20 years before internal corrosion, sludge and pin-hole leaks set in. Replacing old single-panel radiators with correctly sized modern double-panel radiators — and adding TRVs — can make cold rooms comfortable and lets your boiler run at lower, more efficient temperatures.
Signs you need radiator installation
- A room never gets warm enough
- Radiators cold at the bottom even after a powerflush
- Rust spots, weeping valves or pin-hole leaks
- Old valves that will not turn
- You are redecorating or refitting a bathroom
- You want a radiator moved to free up wall space

Common questions about radiator installation.
Honest answers from our Gas Safe registered Lancashire engineers. Can't see your question? Get in touch.
How much does it cost to replace a radiator?
+−
It depends on how many radiators, the size and style, and whether any pipework needs moving. Extra radiators on the same visit work out cheaper each. Send us the details for a free, fixed-price quote.
How long does it take to fit a new radiator?
+−
A like-for-like swap takes 1–2 hours. Most homes can have 3–4 radiators replaced in a single day, including draining down, refilling with inhibitor and balancing.
Will a bigger radiator make my room warmer?
+−
Often, yes. Many older homes have undersized single-panel radiators. We can calculate the heat (BTU) your room needs and fit a correctly sized double-panel or column radiator.
Can you move a radiator to a different wall?
+−
Yes. We re-route the pipework neatly — under the floorboards where possible — and fit the radiator in its new position.
Do you supply the radiators?
+−
We can supply quality radiators from trusted UK brands or fit a radiator you have bought yourself.
